WANDERSON HAS become the first Brazilian player to sign a long-term contract with AS Monaco, following his impressive performances on loan at the club last season.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined Monaco from Santos in January 2020 and quickly made an impact, scoring two goals in just six games for the club. His performances caught the attention of the club's management and they were eager to bring him back permanently.
After months of negotiations, Wanderson has finally signed a five-year deal with the Ligue 1 giants, which will see him remain at the club until June 2025.
"Signing a long-term contract is a huge achievement for me," said Wanderson. "I'm grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity and I'll do my best to repay them."
Wanderson's signing comes as a boost for Monaco, who have struggled for consistency in recent seasons. The club's technical director, Leonardo Jardim, praised the signing and said that it was a big step forward for the team.
"It's fantastic to have a player like Wanderson joining our squad," said Jardim. "He's a talented young player with a lot of potential and we're excited to watch him develop under our guidance."
Wanderson's arrival at Monaco marks the beginning of a new chapter in his career, one where he can continue to improve and help the team achieve success. With his performances on loan last season, he showed that he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level of football, and now he gets the chance to prove it at a top club like Monaco.
